I Demand! : A note on Mumbai terror attacks and the fallout.

Yes, I want answers, and I want them now. The terror attacks on Mumbai have given all of us a jolt. It has hit us where it hurts the most.

We really need to wake up and not take this anymore. We need to start a movement where our leaders are told that they are there to serve us and protect us. They are not elected to fucking just gain brownie points over such horrendous acts of terror. And definitely not here to fucking get FAT.  The CM (now ex-CM), in one of his interviews said that the Maharashtra Government was informed about very general attacks and not specific attacks. Yes of course Mr. Deshmukh, the terrorists will not call you up and inform you about their plans. They will not inform you that they are arriving at so and so date and time at so and so place, so that you can be ready.  From what I see, even if you were told, you wouldn’t do anything.

Deputy CM says, “badien sheron mein choti choti ghatnaye hoti rehti hai”, (Such small incidents keep happening in big cities). I would like to ask him whether he would have reacted the same way, if there was a member of his family caught up at the Taj or the Oberoi. I guess not. Please Mr. Patil, make responsible statements. That’s the least one expects.

Our Prime Minister gives a very robotic speech, about taking stringent steps against terror. I wanted to laugh at him. What stringent steps? Asking Pakistan’s Prime Minister to send the ISI chief to Delhi… is that stringent enough? Or is it stringent to have a more vigilant and a stronger coast guard? Or is it stringent to call for all party meets and have no resolution come out of it? Mr. PM, the ISI chief will never come. If you have all the powerful evidences, why don’t you snip all ties with that country? Why are you requesting and not demanding?  When the Twin Towers were attacked, America took strong measures to eliminate the Taliban and the Al-Qaeda, why aren’t we taking steps to eliminate the terror outfits in Pakistan? Besides we apparently have all the evidences and the whereabouts of these terror outfits.

Also, resignations of politicians and appointing new ones, is just a game these people play. You see, its election season. I also strongly condemn the irresponsible behavior of the opposition parties and have disregard for those who don’t have any concern for the people fighting or dying, the only thing that matters to them is how this can be made an issue and gain an edge over others. Please just fuck off.

The lives of people who turned into victims and the soldiers who sacrificed their lives saving people are just irreplaceable. A great sense of gratitude just takes over as I talk about them. My heart cries. I am very proud to use the cliché of calling them the real ‘Heroes’. It just holds true. Thank you, for being there.

I am not here blaming only a few people. These are just examples.  We as citizens are equally responsible for such attacks. We see things, we take them for granted. I know it is very difficult with the systems we have. But let’s make an effort and see to that these things don’t happen again. We should move on, but not forget to question. Are we safe, anymore? The tax that you pay doesn’t result in filling pockets of politicians, but also in our safety, better technology, better transport and better systems in general. I appeal to Indians all over the world, “Let’s come together and fight this. Ask questions and demand answers!"
